The Loadman family farm at Constable Burton near Leyburn in the Yorkshire Dales. The
farm is called Unthank, which we believe originates from old English,
and means rustler/squatter. This place would have been a rustler's settlement because of the forest and stream
nearby.
We have been farming at Unthank Farm since 1939, starting with five dairy
cows. This steadily increased to thirty until the 1960?s when they were sold and replaced by sheep and beef cattle.
